bio

Eris Thomas (she/they) is a Trans Nonbinary director, dramaturg and performance maker, as well as Mixologist and visual artist. They have presented at Summerworks and Nuit Blanche (Toronto), Wintwerworks (Montreal) and Nocturne (Halifax) festivals as a director, producer, and performance artist.

Eris’ work embraces hybrid performance forms and is devoted to queer(ed) texts, the inventive use of scenography and embodiment across intersectional positionalities (Disabled/Mad/BIPOC/LGBTQIA+). In recent years, their work has come to embrace the logics of hospitality and sensory immersion, bringing taste, smell and live-feed video into their work. Eris’ work enacts alternative ways of being together in the world and explores the space between real and imagined as a site of transformation.

Eris is a founding member of Other Hearts Collective (otherhearts.ca), a Toronto based theatre collective for which they  serve as de facto producer and director-in-residence. They are a graduate of the National Theatre School’s Directing program and currently part of the stratford festival’s michael langham directors workshop.
